Videos are no longer an extra in Meta ads. Creatives wear out, and if you want to test new variants every month, you need a steady supply. UGC videos, meaning videos in the style of real users with a person on camera, are popular for this. But what they cost is often forgotten when comparing agencies.

UGC Video Costs: What the Expert Report Shows

For our expert report, quotes were collected for short ad videos with a real person on camera. 52 offers in US dollars feed into the figure. Important: this is a convenience sample from chat responses, not a market study.

  • Average: 224.42 US dollars per video, converted at 1.1225 USD per euro: €199.93
  • Median: 177.50 US dollars per video: €158.13

The average is above the median because a few high offers pull the average up. The offers differ widely in length, number of hooks, editing, revisions and usage rights. Some don't mention usage rights at all; others limit them to three months.

What Drives the Price of a UGC Video

  1. Length: 15 seconds is something different from 60 seconds.
  2. Hooks: Multiple openers for testing often cost extra.
  3. Editing and subtitles: Not always included.
  4. Revisions: How often can you request changes?
  5. Usage rights: Can you use the video in ads, and for how long?

What Videos Add Up to per Month

If you calculate with the average price from the sample, here's what you get depending on the number of videos:

Videos per monthin US dollarsin euros per monthin euros over 12 monthsin euros over 24 months
4897.68 US dollars€799.71€9,596.52€19,193.04
122,693.04 US dollars€2,399.14€28,789.68€57,579.36
408,976.80 US dollars€7,997.15€95,965.80€191,931.60

These are pure production costs. Briefing, selection and coordination with the creators come on top as time spent.

Videos Plus Management: The Full Benchmark

Many agency packages don't include videos. One package in the sample explicitly says "creatives supplied by client," another "video not included." That's why the expert report adds management and videos together:

PackagePlaith per month (excl. budget fee)Videos per monthClassic benchmark per monthof which videosDifference per month

Scale€4,999up to 40€9,083.40€7,997.15€4,084.40

With Plaith, videos are included in the package: Start up to 4, Growth up to 12, Scale up to 40 new videos per month. But in fairness: Plaith delivers AI videos, while the expert report is based on videos with a real person on camera. Only you can judge, by testing, whether AI videos work just as well for your offer. The expert report compares quantities and prices, not performance.

Growth package, €3,000 own budget per month, no Booster, 24 months, ROAS 5 as an assumption.

How We Run the Comparison

Both sides invest exactly the same total spend. On the Plaith side, it consists of your own ad budget, the setup fee, the package price, the budget fee and, if selected, the Booster. On the classic side, we subtract the cost of management and videos from the same amount. The basis is the benchmark from the expert report (Start €1,885.96, Growth €3,485.39, Scale €9,083.40 per month). The rest goes into ads. We don't include an agency setup fee there. Agency surcharges on the ad budget (for example 5% on everything or 10% on the portion above €1,000 per month, expert report section 4.1) are deliberately not included, so Plaith's lead is, if anything, larger.

What This Means for You

Videos are a fixed cost block, even if they don't show up in the proposal. If you forget them, you're comparing proposals on the wrong basis. So before you run the numbers, you should know how many new videos you need per month.

How to Plan Your Video Needs

How many videos you need depends less on your budget than on the number of your offers and how quickly creatives wear out. Three questions help you plan:

  1. How many offers are you advertising at the same time? Each offer needs its own creatives.
  2. How many variants do you want to test per month? Tests with different openers show what resonates.
  3. How long do your ads run? The higher the budget, the faster your audience sees the same video several times.

Then project your video needs over twelve or 24 months at a realistic unit price. Only then will you see whether a proposal without videos is cheaper than a package with videos.

Organize UGC Yourself or Buy It In?

Hiring directly through platforms: You have full control and can choose creators. But it costs time for briefing, selection and rework, and prices and quality vary widely.

Through an agency: Less effort for you, but often additional costs on top of the management retainer.

In a package with AI videos: A predictable quantity and no one-off purchasing. Test early whether the style fits your brand.

What You Gain When Videos Are Planned in from the Start

You know your ads need fresh videos. But finding talent, coordinating shoots and clearing rights costs you time you don't have in day-to-day business.

If you plan your video needs in, an irregular cost block becomes a fixed figure.

Here's what you get:

  • Predictable costs. 12 videos with real people cost €2,399.14 per month at the average price, €57,579.36 over two years. You know the size before you decide.
  • Less coordination. Plaith packages include up to 4, 12 or 40 new AI videos per month. You don't organize any shoots.
  • A conscious choice. AI videos aren't the same as videos with real people. You decide for yourself whether real faces are worth the extra cost to you.

Only a test shows which videos work with your audience.

Objections, Answered Honestly

There are three natural objections when it comes to video costs. Here are our answers:

"AI videos are just as good."

Not necessarily. Videos with real people come across differently, and the expert report only calculates with those. AI videos can be created faster and more cheaply. Only a test shows which variant resonates better with your audience. The article Facebook Ad Agency Costs shows what videos plus management cost together.

"I'll shoot the videos myself on my phone."

That can work well. But factor in your time and clear the usage rights if other people appear. And plan how you'll deliver new creatives every month.

"The average is too high for my budget."

That's why we also give the median of €158.13. It's less sensitive to expensive outliers. You can use both values for your planning.
